1900 – 1945

Over the first half of the twentieth century, photography increasingly branched out into different styles and areas. The rendering of emotional states and sensory impressions became an important element in the work of artists like Heinrich Kühn and Gertrude Käsebier. Bauhaus photographers including Lucia Moholy-Nagy, devoted themselves to experimental and abstract photography. At the same time, photo reportage made its triumphant debut in the press.
