on display, room 016 About the workIn the late 1860s, Julius Stinde published his book “Blicke durch das Mikroskop” (Views through the Microscope), which contained twelve photographic prints from negatives. Today, the work would be described as popular science: it aimed to give the general public accessible and entertaining insights into the natural sciences. The microscopic images served as technical illustrations rather than answers to scientific questions. Only the pages with photographs have been included in the Kunstpalast collection. To this day, the pictures still convey the impression that they contain scientific knowledge.
