About the workArt reproduction was one of the first fields through which photography found its way into museums as a technical tool for documentation. It was only later that the intrinsic artistic value of these photographs was recognized. Giorgio Sommer’s images are a prime example of this shift. Born in Germany, the photographer worked primarily in Italy and is also renowned for his landscape photographs. His photographs combine documentary accuracy with artistic ambition.
