About the workRaphael’s art held a special place in the heart of Düsseldorf artist Lambert Krahe. Although his collection contained only one original drawing by the painter, who lived and worked in Rome, it included numerous drawings by artists who referenced Raphael’s works, as well as various printed reproductions of his paintings. These include engravings by the French artist Nicolas Dorigny based on the murals in the Roman Villa Farnesina. They depict the mythological tale of the marriage of Cupid to the once mortal Psyche in the presence of the gods and goddesses on Mount Olympus.
