About the workSix naked people dominate the foreground of this work and stand in vivid contrast to the bright blue of the water. The style is wild and striking; the pure colours seem two-dimensional, the figures somewhat indistinct. Between 1909 and 1911, Erich Heckel often spent time at the Moritzburg lakes with his artist friend Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, freely indulging in nature and painting. The goal was to find a new unity between art and life.
