Rose water bottle with cut decoration, 10th century AD
Decolourized glass with slight yellow tinge, mould-blown, cut
(H x Ø)16,6 x 9,5 cm
About the workThere are almost identical counterparts to this bottle in other collections. It is a serially produced item; even the zigzag pattern on the neck and the round ornamentation of four heart-shaped leaves can be observed on other objects. And yet the bottle was a precious trinket, since the almost colourless glass and elaborate cut are reminiscent of works made of rock crystal. The lower part of the bottle is also decorated, like its gilded silver counterparts.
