About the workNatural materials and movement play a special role in Richard Long’s oeuvre. The British artist realises works in dialogue and harmony with nature all over the world. These are created in remote locations such as deserts and mountains, where Long arranges stones or wood that he finds there into geometric shapes and other forms. For this piece, the artist adapted his approach to the two-dimensional. Using his palms, he left traces of river mud in a meandering ribbon shape: a labyrinthine pattern that alludes to Long’s walks through nature.
