About the workThis object is made from various found drawers held together with a jute strap. Its name, “You can’t lay down your memory”, comes from a line in the 1985 song “Knockin’ on Joe” by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, in which a man sentenced to death talks to his executioner and invokes the power of memories. For the designer Tejo Remy, the different drawers metaphorically represent the many different memories that people carry within them.
