Düsseldorf School of Painting

The Düsseldorf Art Academy was newly founded in 1819. The academy soon rose to become a leading international educational institution, whose milieu was referred to as the Düsseldorf School of Painting. This included artists such as Andreas and Oswald Achenbach, Peter von Cornelius, Elisabeth Jerichau-Baumann and Wilhelm von Schadow.
