About the workThis etching depicts the highly magnified body of an insect. The focus is on the area where the legs and wings are attached. Fascinated by wing shapes, the Düsseldorf artist Ursula Kaechele produced entire series of insect motifs using various techniques in her early oeuvre. This work on paper was created in 1967, before she graduated from the art school led by Jo Strahn. The signature features her maiden name; Kaechele changed her surname when she married the following year.
