About the workThis lounge chair is still in production today. With its elegant and ergonomic design, it continues to epitomise innovative tubular steel design combined with comfort and luxury. The fact that there was a woman in the design team was anything but commonplace in the 1920s, as men dominated the worlds of architecture and furniture design. Charlotte Perriand’s first application to work for Le Corbusier was unsuccessful. However, as soon as he saw one of her designs at the Paris Autumn Salon in 1927, he realised his mistake and immediately hired her to work for his architectural firm.
