About the workIn this painting, the Düsseldorf painter Olof Jernberg combines a landscape depiction with an insight into peasant life. The body language and positioning of the farming family, who have come together for a break in the middle of their field work, convey more than just a rural idyll. The farmers appear exhausted from their hard work and the strong, bright yellow color makes the summer heat palpable. In addition, the turbulent sky, which takes up almost two thirds of the large-format picture, creates an almost oppressive atmosphere.
