on display, room G11 About the workThe subject of this work is nothing but the glass itself. Its outlines – created only by reflections – and its transparency challenge the viewer to take a closer look. In addition to his own sparing interventions, the artist tolerated a few small flaws in the substance. Jan Fišar studied sculpture in Prague in the 1950s. He began using glass in 1966 and it soon became the main, then the exclusive material in his practice. His approach to the medium was not through glassmaking training, but through sculpture.
