not on displayWith his painting of a snow-covered, deserted forest path, Düsseldorf painter Olof Jernberg draws on French painting traditions. The impasto paint develops its own rhythm: shadows are rendered not in grey but in blue, and yellow light spots create an atmospheric contrast. The central perspective creates a pull into the depth of the picture. The rows of trees and the clearing meet at a vanishing point, which is intensified by the shortening tree trunks and the contrast between the bright snow and the dark forest.
