not on displayThis monumental cabinet was used to store textiles and likely stood in the entrance hall of a stately home, possibly the ducal palace of Salzdahlum near Braunschweig, which no longer exists today. The elaborate design, featuring rich carvings and pewter inlays, points to a wealthy patron. The designs depict floral ornaments, birds, and Chinese motifs, which became particularly fashionable around 1730. The use of pewter inlays in this style was characteristic of the Braunschweig furniture workshops.
