About the workThe “frozen” remnants on the ceiling of Creamcheese are evidence of a merry get-together in May 1969. On that evening, Daniel Spoerri fixed two wooden boards to the bar counter. After the venue closed, the artist fixed the glasses and items left on the boards in their found arrangement and hung the resulting work upside down from the ceiling. Later, guests added further objects. Spoerri became known in the 1960s for capturing random traces of everyday life. Attracted by the lively art scene, he opened a restaurant in Düsseldorf in 1968.
