About the workNowadays, nobody would be able to form loops at the furnace that are as delicate as the ones on this beaker. They were probably created on the hot side of the beaker in less than a minute. There could have been just one glassworks that produced all the glasses of this style. They appear sporadically at excavations in Central Europe, particularly in southern Germany and Switzerland. This example from Düsseldorf is one of the best preserved. Together with the quality of the delicate glass material, this is one of the greatest feats of the art of glassmaking.
