not on displayThe German artist Erwin Eisch was a pioneer of the international Studio Glass movement, which broke with the traditional understanding of glass as a functional object and established it as an independent artistic medium. In Toledo, USA, artists and technologists came together in the early 1960s to explore new possibilities for making glass in the studio. Eisch’s experiments in Germany corresponded in many ways to these American endeavours, soon earning him international recognition and establishing him as one of the movement’s leading figures.
