About the workWith the basic pattern of squares, the Barovier & Toso glassworks created a wide variety of glasses. What the series name “dorico” refers to can only be surmised. “Doric” refers to the simplest of the classical Greek column orders. The individual discs are reminiscent of the cross-section of these columns with their end, the square capital. The use of such patterns was a speciality of the glassworks, whose owner families can be traced back to the early days of glass art in Murano in the 13th and 14th centuries.
