About the workThe vase is a reaction to the success of the V.S.M. Cappellin, Venini & C. glassworks. Since 1921, the company had been launching “naked” glass with clear outlines on the market with designs by the artist Vittorio Zecchin, which were free of all the decoration customary in Murano. The Pauly trading company had merged with the Venice and Murano Glass Company in 1919 and acted as a publisher for glass products from Murano: it commissioned works based on its own designs from the glassworks.
