About the workThe vase corresponds to the designs by the artist Vittorio Zecchin for the glassworks V.S.M. Cappellin, Venini & C.. Since 1921, the glassworks had launched “naked” glasses with clear outlines on the market, which were free of all the decoration customary in Murano. In this vase, the emphatically simple spherical shape is accentuated by the small decorative handles. The Pauly trading company had merged with the Venice and Murano Glass Company in 1919 and acted as a publisher for glass products from Murano: it commissioned works from the glassworks based on its own designs.
