About the workThe tree landscape with its modified colours is reminiscent of art movements at the beginning of the 20th century. Here, the Artisti Barovier set themselves apart from Murano’s production, which was at the time orientated towards historical models. The glassworks originally worked exclusively for the entrepreneur Antonio Salviati and also produced utility glass for the Deutsche Werkstätten in Munich, an interior design company, from 1909 to 1926. Fused mosaic glass pieces are a typical Venetian manufacturing technique that experienced a new, long-lasting heyday from the 1830s onwards.
