About the workFrench glass art from the period between around 1880 and 1904 was strongly influenced by the Gallé and Daum glass companies in Nancy, but there were several other companies with their own style. Eugène Michel had worked as a glass engraver for the art dealer François Eugène Rousseau in Paris before setting up his own business there. The atmospheric evocation of water and air in this depiction of pond plants is characteristic of his work.
