About the workIn this piece, the creation process is visible in the material . Jörg Zimmermann blows glass through a metal mesh that is overlaid with glass. The resulting uniform structures are often found in nature. These pieces are only created by working slowly, so one could speak of “slow glass”. The long-running series of honeycomb objects began as a reaction to the advent of fully automated glass production, which the Württemberg glass artist Zimmermann experienced around 1970 as a designer for the Hergiswil glass factory in Switzerland.
