About the workSince the beginning of glass blowing in the 1st century AD, there has been the kick in the base: by pushing the still hot and mouldable glass of a blown sphere slightly into the underside, a rim is created on which the vessel can later stand well and which gives it stability. In this vase, the practical process becomes an artistic motif that repeats the shape and also the colour of the mouth—as if a new one were appearing inside the vase. Toni Zuccheri studied architecture in Venice from 1960 and became a designer for the Venice glassworks very early on.
