About the workThis drawing remains a mystery. The draughtsman has not been identified to date, nor has the scene depicted been deciphered. The relationship between the sexes is striking: while the men flaunt their nudity, the cowering woman covers herself with her hands. This is clearly a study of naked bodies in different poses. Even if the figures were to be clothed in a later painting, such drawings were used to prepare the composition of the work.
