About the workThe Berlin-based artist and designer Esra Gülmen, who is of Turkish origin, works at the interface of fine art and communication design. Her bright red installation is an invitation to play. Anyone who wishes can take a seat and seesaw – an activity that is not normally permitted in museums. The white texts emphasise the fact that this also gets one’s feelings flowing: "I am so in love" is written on one side and "I need my space" on the other. And because rocking is only possible in pairs, this emotional up and down becomes a shared experience.
