About the workThe traditional technique of papercutting, which requires a simplified depiction, was traditionally categorised as a domestic or female medium. The Frankfurt-based artist Sonja Yakovleva’s papercutting was inspired by images from the online platform OnlyFans. While maintaining privacy, erotic or pornographic content can be published on the website and viewed by interested parties for a fee. Frequently, Yakovleva stages the sexualisation of men and thus invites a reconsideration of sexual motifs.
