About the workThe architect and designer Michael Graves was influenced by American skyscrapers from the 1930s when he conceived this dressing table. Colourful shapes combined with decorative elements are typical of his work. Graves is one of the leading representatives of the postmodern style that emerged around the world in the 1970s and 1980s. The aim was to create an antithesis to the often uniform design of the period. To achieve this, designers borrowed elements from art, architecture and everyday life, which inspired them to produce new, vividly imaginative, extraordinary objects.
