About the work“Büdchen”, “Kiosk”, “Trinkhalle” (literal translation “Drinking Hall”): these typical German refreshment kiosks are still loved and known by many names in the Rhine-Ruhr region today. Krefeld native Tata Ronkholz, a student of Bernd and Hilla Becher at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1977 to 1985, created a photographic archive of these everyday sites. The photographs in the series combine to form an impressive portrait of a region. While the surroundings have changed greatly since the pictures were taken, the refreshment kiosks themselves testify to an unwavering continuity.
