About the workA few tweaks with the glassmaker’s shears were all it took to give an animal’s face to this glass prunt. A popular motif since the beginning of the sixteenth century, on this glass it has been combined with trunks, which were already prominent in early medieval glass art, but without the animals’ heads. It is unclear whether the combination had any significance, but it did occur occasionally.
