About the workVoluptuous and informal outdoor nudes are the trademark of Swedish painter and printmaker Anders Zorn. He captured the casual poses of his subjects not only in drawings, but also in photographs. While his etchings were occasionally considered indecent at the time they were drawn, this is still true of the preparatory photographs today: in 2015, they were blacked out on the Facebook page of Fotografiska, a photography exhibition hall in Stockholm. The artist, who today in Germany is only known to specialists, was internationally renowned during his lifetime. His prints were sometimes valued at higher prices than those by Rembrandt.
