About the workFor Erwin Eisch, an artistic exploration of Bavarian traditions was an obvious choice. He began learning glass art in his native Bavarian Forest in 1946 and then studied sculpture in Munich from 1956 to 1959. He became a mentor for the young glass art scene in the USA from 1962, showing them ways of working freely with the medium. “It is my intention to lead glass out of the so-called ‘circle of good form’, to release it again and to consider it as a material that can harbour a whole world of poetic possibilities,” wrote Eisch in 1962.
