on display, room 022 About the workIn this portrait, the sculptor Renée Sintenis is depicted as a modern young woman with her terrier. Her intimate relationship with the dog, which she holds with both hands in a light embrace, is immediately apparent. Sintenis specialised in animal sculpture and had great success with her works. This painting was realised by her husband Emil Rudolf Weiß, who was a book and type designer. The couple were part of the gallery owner Alfred Flechtheim’s circle of friends in Berlin.
