About the workThe grooves of this bowl, which taper slightly towards the base, have been cut with great care. It thus follows the example of the metal art of the period. It is rare to find surviving bowls of this kind; most have been found in Greece, and more rarely in other parts of the Mediterranean. The precursors of this bowl came from Persia.
