About the workGlass is made from simple raw materials such as quartz sand and ash. It is similar in colour and lustre to precious stones and has been used since the beginning of glass production around 1500 BC as jewellery, for vessels and above all as an inlay in furniture and sculptures. To create this glass mosaic, coloured glass rods were assembled, fused together and stretched out lengthwise. Each repetition of the process resulted in a more delicate ornament that runs through the mosaic glass rod from front to back. Many individual discs with the same pattern were obtained by breaking them up.
