About the workIt is fascinating to see how pen and coloured ink on brown paper create the illusion of an almost infinite space. Andrea Pozzo was not only active as a painter, but also as an architect. He specialised in so-called "quadrature painting", in which painted architecture visually expands the actual space and seemingly opens it up to the sky. As the author of a treatise on architectural theory, Pozzo passed on his knowledge of the use of perspective to other artists.
