About the workCollage-like, Astrid Klein has positioned three women around a sofa. With their appearance, which corresponds to the usual ideal of beauty, and their indifferent gaze, they look as if they have come straight out of an advert. At the same time, they appear strangely out of place. The Cologne-based artist combines found images and texts in her works. In combination, these trigger various mental connections and ideas in the viewer. In this way, Klein questions widespread power structures and encourages viewers to reflect on their own patterns of perception.
