About the workMonica Bonvicini explores spaces and language from a feminist perspective. She is interested in places such as fetish clubs, where questions of superiority and subordination are negotiated. “I believe that language opens up spaces just as much as sculptures or installations do,” she said in an interview in 2020. Here, the artist has designed words such as “guilt” in such a way that the lettering allows glimpses of images of her installations and encourages viewers to think about these concepts and their associated power structures.
