About the workChildren are a recurring motif in Evelyn Richter's work. In addition to her artistic-documentary work, she was also active as a photojournalist throughout her life, taking photographs on commission for magazines such as Sibylle or Für Dich, which were printed in large numbers in the GDR. Her photograph of a mother with her child in an intimate embrace appeared in 1966 in Sibylle and illustrated an article titled "The tough nut. Do we take enough time to meet the interests and needs of our children?".
