About the workPhotography played a major role at the Bauhaus, an art school founded in Weimar. Teachers and students experimented with the medium across all disciplines and had a lasting influence on its development. In 1984/85, the gallerist Rudolf Kicken sought to promote the photography of the Bauhaus by publishing two portfolios. He reprinted ten images from every year between 1921 and 1933 – some from the original negatives, some as photographs of photographs. Artistic photographers were responsible for the modern reproductions.
