Fotografie und Gemeinschaft About the workSometimes arranged in meticulous order, sometimes playful: ideas of what constitutes a successful group portrait are constantly changing. In the past, one had to go to a photo studio and keep perfectly still due to long exposure times. Over time, cameras became more portable, could be taken to different locations, and used spontaneously by anyone. Social connections grew more flexible over the course of the 20th century, and people were increasingly able to choose and shape friendships, partnerships, and social groups themselves. In line with this, group photos also changed and became more engaging, dynamic and creative.
