Bathed in warm light, numerous visitors stroll along the large "Ausstellungsstraße" (Exhibition Street), which led from the Oberkasseler Bridge towards Golzheim. With a keen eye for mood and atmosphere, Heinrich Hermanns brings one of the most important cultural events of the Weimar Republic to life. At the same time, he provides insights into the sociable aspects and public perception of such events in the 1920s. The city as a centre of modernity was a recurring theme for the Düsseldorf painter.
