About the workThis chair is characterised by an elegant yet simple design. A typical feature of the Biedermeier period is the decoration on the back rest, which is in the stylised form of an ancient stringed instrument, the lyre. Modelled on English furnishings, so-called Biedermeier furniture began to emerge in German-speaking countries in the 1820s.
