on display, room G13 About the work“Psyche”, the ancient Greek word for breath and soul, also means “butterfly”. Ever since antiquity, the butterfly has thus served as a symbol of the soul and immortality. The title of this work reflects the fact that the sculptor Jan Fišar was concerned with the transition between life and death. The artistic interpretation of this theme assumes form in the glass, which is supposed to be see-through, but instead leaves what lies behind unclear. Fišar titled the group of objects to which this item belongs “Outlines”.
