About the workThe special feature of this vase is revealed in changing light. In daylight, it appears slightly purple and changes to a green colour in neon light. The appearance is probably due to certain metal oxides in the glass, which filter out the yellow tones from the light. Depending on which colours predominate in the ambient light, this produces a visible change in the glass. The glassmaker and owner of the glassworks, Gino Cenedese, had the effect hidden in an inconspicuous form: the imitation of a wine bottle with a label.
