not on displayIn the 1980s, the Düsseldorf sculptor Ulrike Holthöfer and the Berlin designer Axel Kufus experimented with found objects from bulky waste, which they assembled into unusual furniture objects. One example is this "Blue Armchair", which consists of old 1950s household goods and brushes from a car wash. New German Design was the name given to this design offensive. With its ironic, humorous, handcrafted design expression, it was a radical counter-movement to the functional, industrial product design that had been common until then.
