not on displayThe Italian architect and designer Ettore Sottsass created this table for the Milan-based design group "Memphis", which he co-founded in 1981. The name "Ivory" refers to the material ivory, traditionally associated with notions of purity and elegance. In contrast, the table features brightly coloured laminates, playful patterns, and asymmetrical areas of colour. Sottsass uses the contrast between the title and the design to playfully and ironically question the traditional form and function of a table. Practical use is not the primary focus; instead, the emphasis is on its visual statement. The design is intended to evoke emotions and make an impact through its decorative presence.
