About the workStudies of objects are often made from a close distance, as is the case here: the building almost fills the entire image and there is barely a sliver of sky to be seen. Johann Adolf Lasinsky was one of the early Düsseldorf landscape painters who attached great importance to the faithful study of nature. He captured every brick and crack of the old jury house in Koblenz. The building, which dates back to the sixteenth century, was destroyed in 1944 and later rebuilt.
