About the workIn his art, Düsseldorfer Hermann-Josef Kuhna focussed on the dot, which served as the basis for his systematic development of pictorial surfaces. In countless repetitions, he dabbed different coloured circular areas into a balanced whole. The resulting patterns, structures and transitions can create effects such as flickering or streaming. Kuhna is represented in Willi Kemp’s collection with over 40 works. Their long-standing exchange inspired Kemp to organise an exhibition at Gut Selikum in Neuss in 2008 and to publish a book about Kuhna’s work.
